Racing Membership - $225

Ready to hit the water? The Racing Membership gives you access to all BHSC races, including our flagship Wednesday Night Series and additional racing events. You'll need to have your boat covered with the required insurance and submit your PHRF-LE handicap rating to the Club Handicapper. Not sure how? We'll help you!

Here’s What You’ll Get:

• Wednesday Night Races: Three 5-race series from mid-May to mid-September, with up to nine competitive classes (Main & Jib, Spinnaker, PHRF ratings, and J105 ODR).
• Tuesday Night Races: Featuring two unique programs:
  • China Light Series: A women-centric race with female helms and majority-women crews.
  • RCR Series: A fun, less intense training-focused series open to all classes.
• Regattas: At least two exciting events annually to test your skills.
• Award Banquet: Celebrate in style with trophies for the top three in each class.

Important Notes:

• Deadline Alert: Renew your Racing Membership by February's end to avoid a $100 late fee.
• Insurance & Handicap: Both must be up-to-date to qualify.

Regular Membership - $60

For crew and committee participants, the Regular Membership is your all-access pass to the BHSC community. While it doesn’t cover boat registration (see Racing Membership for that), it’s perfect for those who love being part of the action—whether on the water or behind the scenes.

Perks of Being a Regular Member:

• Access to all club events.
• Discounts on regatta parties and club merchandise.
• Eligibility to volunteer on committees and host club events.
• Crew Freedom: Sail with one boat or as many as you like!
• Tap into the Crew Bank to find or offer opportunities to race on member boats.

Discover Buffalo Sailing (DBS) $75
Your gateway to the world of sailing! Discover Buffalo Sailing (DBS) is a 4-week program at the start of the sailing season that combines onshore lessons and hands-on experience on the water. Club boat owners and seasoned sailors volunteer their time and expertise to help you learn the basics of sailing, including boat handling, safety, and how wind powers a sailboat.

Program Highlights:

• All the benefits of Regular Membership
• Interactive Learning: Chalk-talks onshore paired with hands-on practice.
• Mentorship: Guided by experienced sailors and mentors.
• Team Connection: Get matched with a skipper and fellow crew members for your journey.

Key Dates:

• Registration: Open December–April.
• Orientation: Held in April at Obersheimer Sailor Supply (1884 Niagara St., Buffalo, NY). Meet your skipper, crew, and mentors, and get ready to set sail!

Set sail early with BHSC’s Junior Membership, designed for sailors aged 12 to 21. While we don’t have dedicated junior sailing classes, we’ll help match you with a racing sailboat where you can learn and race simultaneously.

The Buffalo Harbor Sailing Club also highly encourages membership in US Sailing, the governing body for sail racing in the United States. US Sailing membership is optional, however it will provide you access to their training programs and continuing education. All BHSC members receive a $10 discount on the annual US Sailing dues by joining via the BHSC MVP program linked in the US Sailing image below.
