All are welcome at this BHSC Special Event!
In 1989, Tracy Edwards leads the first all-female crew in the Whitbread Round the World Race, a grueling yachting competition that covers 53,000 kilometers and lasts nine months.
Polly Castor writes: This was a wonderful documentary; try to see it if you can. It is the story of Tracy Edwards who led the first all female crew on a male dominated sailing race around the world. It happened back in 1989, and this documentary interviews the crew, the competitors, and the press, now thirty years later. This adds a lot of dimension to the story.
The real time film clips from thirty years ago give an authentic feel to the events, but are also subpar in quality, not always in focus But I teared up in the end regardless. It is always good to see someone accomplish their dream, and be victorious over imposed limitations.
I give this 5 stars, and I’m glad I took time in a busy week to see it. I think you will too!
